The body, mind and spirit are revered and integrated through Lourdes Wellness Services. At the heart of this fusion is our gifted group of faculty and staff. The wellness program was born through the dedication of a few visionary individuals, and over recent years it has grown through the input and creativity of many individuals who have added their unique ideas and approaches to wellness. The commitment of our staff to bring exciting and new offerings enables Lourdes Wellness Services to continue to grow.
Dorothea Atkins, RN, ThD (doctor of theology), LMP (licensed massage practitioner), certified MLD (manual lymph drainage) therapist, is an instructor for the Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies and a wellness programs teacher and massage therapist. A graduate of Temple University’s BSN nursing program, she received her master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She completed her massage training at Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy (Cortiva Institute, Oaks, Pa.), having studied extensively in many modalities. Dotty, a retired high-school teacher, and staff nurse, received her ThD with a focus on spiritual healing. She has studied extensively in complementary medicine, including Pfrimmer/deep tissue therapy, myofascial release, pregnancy and off-site trigger point therapy, specific myotherapy, craniosacral therapy and aromatherapy.
Susan Atlas, CMT (certified massage therapist), is a massage therapist and graduate of Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies. She offers deep-tissue, therapeutic and healing stone massage.
Terrance Bennett, CYT (certified yoga teacher), is a practitioner and teacher of hatha yoga. A graduate of Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, he has entered the 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program, earning certificates in inversion immersion, creative vinyasa flow, introduction to herbs, and yoga nidra teacher training level 1.
Tina Bortner, ACE (American Council on Exercise certification), is the community health educator and Worksite Wellness coordinator for Lourdes Wellness Services. She teaches group exercise classes and directs the Lourdes Live Well Club for community members 50 years of age and better.
Susan Cannis, RN, LMT (licensed massage therapist), is a certified Compassionate Touch® practitioner and specializes in massage and elder care.
Michelle Carlino, CYT (certified yoga teacher), ERYT500 (experienced registered yoga teacher who has completed the 500-hour yoga teacher training program through Yoga Alliance), CR (certified foot reflexologist), is a wellness, yoga and tai chi instructor. Michelle is certified in hatha, Kripalu, Anusara, Christian, kundalini yoga, including yoga for cancer and cardiac patients. She has done extensive studies in therapeutic yoga and specializes in working with special needs populations, including clients with multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, brain injuries, visual impairment and back pain. She is also certified as a Tai Chi instructor and chair-massage therapist. She is the assistant director for the Lourdes 200-hour yoga teacher training.
Geoff Caruso, LMT (licensed massage therapist), has a strong interest in pain management and pain relief.
Ralph Casciato, MMP (master of medical physics), LMT (licensed massage therapist), teaches therapeutic massage and hot-stone massage, and supervises the student massage clinic at the Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies.
Beverly Chabalowski coordinates Lourdes retreat offerings and cancer-related services in partnership with Lourdes wellness program. In this role, she works closely with provider offices and clients to handle patient navigation.
Cindie Collins, CMP (certified massage practitioner), specializes in therapeutic, myofascial, myotherapeutic, neuromuscular and deep-tissue massage. She also offers therapeutic touch therapy.
Kim Dalglish, RN, performs wellness screenings for Lourdes’ Worksite Wellness and community outreach programs. Kim has more than 20 years of nursing experience, most of them in the hospital setting on a post-surgical unit.
Roberta DiCriscio, RYT, is the registrar/scheduler and yoga instructor for Lourdes Wellness Services. She is a certified feng shui consultant and has received certification from The Art Institute of Philadelphia in space planning and interior design.
Kathryn Friedman, CHHC (certified holistic health coach), Director of Integrative Health Care is a nutritionist and health coach. She has a BS in health planning and administration from Penn State University and dietetic training from Immaculata University.
Xavier Harvey, LMT (licensed massage therapist), CAMT (certification in advanced manipulative therapy), OBT (certified oriental body therapist), CPT (certified personal trainer) is an instructor and a NJ certified massage, bodywork and somatic therapist. He has studied at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) and Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies. He also has his tui na certification.
Marianne Hieb, RSM (Religious Sister of Mercy), MFA, ATR (registered art therapist), DMin. (doctor of ministry), author of Inner Journeying Through Art Journaling, coordinates the Wellness Spirituality Program at Lourdes and is a trained as a studio artist, art therapist and spiritual director. For more than 20 years, she has presented workshops and retreats using Art-Journaling ® as a spiritual practice.
Colleen Kendrick, MSBA (master of science in business administration), is the Director of Community Health and Cancer Services for Lourdes Health System. She completed her undergraduate studies in marketing at Temple University and her Masters of Science in Business Administration at San Francisco State University. She has more than a decade of experience with national for-profit corporations and nonprofit organizations.
Beverly Kovac, CYT (certified yoga teacher), substitutes and volunteers for community wellness at Lourdes.
Laura Kyle, CMP (certified massage practitioner), a graduate of Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies and a massage therapist for Lourdes Worksite Wellness. She is also trained as a master instructor of Integrated Energy Therapy®.
Melanie Linton, RYT (registered yoga teacher), AAAI-ISMA (American Aerobic Association International and International Sports Medicine Association certified fitness trainer) is a yoga instructor. She is also a certified shiatsu practitioner/therapist (through the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia) and a pilates instructor. She graduated from Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies with her RYT-200 (200-hour yoga teacher training program) and blends styles with her Chinese medicine background. She also offers pregnancy shiatsu, provides shiatsu pressure-point massage and teaches exercise classes.
Melissa McHugh, CMP (certified massage practitioner), specializes in therapeutic, healing-stone, deep-tissue and pregnancy massage.
Celeste Miller is the head registrar/scheduler for Lourdes Wellness Services.
Marie Mitarotondo, MA, is a certified spiritual director with a special interest in grief and bereavement, the spirituality of creativity and seeking the holy in all circumstances. Marie engages in spiritual care-giving as a hospice chaplain.
Diane Omillian, CMP (certified massage practitioner), works with the Lourdes Worksite Wellness service and specializes in aromatherapy as well as deep-tissue, foot-reflexology, healing-stone, pregnancy and myofascial massage.
Helen Owens, OSF (order of Saint Francis), RN, MSN, DMin (doctor of ministry), INC (Integrative Nurse Coach) is the former Vice President of Mission and Director of Wellness Spirituality for Lourdes Health System. Her background is in community health nursing and wholistic modalities. In 1980, Sister Helen founded The Bridge, a support program for Camden teens. That same year, she established Lourdes Wellness Center. In 1993, Sr. Helen developed the Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies. Her interest in wholistic spirituality also prompted her to include the wholistic modalities certification programs at Our Lady of Lourdes. Sr. Helen offers retreats through the wellness spirituality programs and serves as an integrative nurse coach.
Lydia Reese, MS (from Tri-State College of Acupuncture), LAc (licensed acupuncturist), is NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), NJ and PA acupuncture certified, and has 12 years of training in Chinese healing arts (Daoist yoga and qi gong/chi healing therapy). Lydia’s approach is based on her training in classical acupuncture. Through this system, she evaluates and treats a patient based on the four exams with an emphasis on palpation.
Robin Restrepo, BSN, RN, performs wellness screenings for Lourdes Worksite Wellness and community outreach. After receiving her BSN from Drexel University, she worked as a medical surgical nurse.
Connie Reuther, CHHC (certified holistic health coach), is a registrar/scheduler for Lourdes Wellness Services and the data coordinator for the Bariatric Program at Lourdes Health System. She holds a BS in psychology and experience in data management for the pharmaceutical industry.
Nita Spielberg, RN, ERTY200 (experienced registered yoga teacher who has completed the 500-hour yoga teacher training program through Yoga Alliance), has studied in the Iyengar and Kripalu yoga traditions, is a graduate of the Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies, and has extensive teaching experience. Through group classes, workshops and individual sessions, Nita teaches classical hatha and vinyasa yoga for beginning to advanced students and has traveled nationally to conduct workshops in anatomy and physiology related to yoga practice. With her interest in anatomy and physiology and her nursing background, she links Eastern and Western approaches to health.
Adam Travia is an herbalist, massage therapist, and reflexologist. He is an instructor for Lourdes Wellness as well as an instructor for and a graduate of the Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies. Adam has studied Western and Eastern herbalism with many of the field’s leaders. He maintains a private practice in both Philadelphia and New Jersey.
