Lourdes’ 50-bed inpatient “hospital-within-a-hospital” serves individuals 20 years of age and older with a wide range of disabilities. Each patient’s goals and length of stay are determined at the initial team conference during the first week of admission to Lourdes.
We believe strongly that the family and caregivers are a critical part of the rehabilitation process. Many therapy sessions focus on family instruction. We encourage patients to go home on day passes during weekends so that they can practice skills in the home environment before discharge.
Our facility works toward integrating patients back into their lives as quickly and easily as possible. That is why our patients wear street clothes, eat in a dining area, and work towards achieving a more natural lifestyle during the rehabilitation process.
Unlike other rehab centers, which are licensed as long-term care facilities, Lourdes Regional Rehabilitation Center is licensed by the State of New Jersey as a rehabilitation hospital. This means we meet comprehensive rehabilitation licensure standards. As a unit in a medical center, Lourdes is also able to quickly address any medical need of our rehabilitation patients should the need arise.
