The health care staff at LMCBC includes emergency medicine physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency and trauma. These professionals are prepared 24 hours a day, seven days a week to handle virtually any emergency in the hospital’s modern Emergency Department. This state-of-the-art facility contains 14 treatment areas, specialty isolation rooms, a decontamination unit, a pediatric treatment room, two OB/GYN treatment rooms and special rooms for trauma and cardiac patients.
To treat patients with minor emergencies in a more efficient manner, the hospital has expanded its emergency department to include a dedicated area called PromptCare.
Encompassing eight treatment rooms, PromptCare gives patients quicker access to care for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries and helps to alleviate long wait times at the community hospital’s busy emergency department.
The emergency department’s triage nurse evaluates incoming patients. Patients with less-serious medical problems, such as minor cuts, burns and animal bites, strains and sprains, as well as sore throats, will be treated at PromptCare. Recognizing that urgent care clinics are limited in their services, Lourdes PromptCare provides a higher level of care. If the patient’s condition worsens or there is a need for tests, the full resources of the hospital are available
