The Bariatric Surgery program at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), the national unified accrediting agency representing the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
Surgeons at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County offer a wide variety of options for weight loss, including laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric band, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch and revisional surgery, particularly the conversion of Lap Bands to sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass. For select patients, bariatric surgery is an important weight-loss option, and its highly experienced surgical team is there for those individuals who meet specific criteria.
For patients who may not meet the criteria for weight loss surgery, or who are working to meet a healthy weight goal without surgery, a medical weight management option is available.
It is important to remember that bariatric surgery is not a quick fix; surgery is most effective when paired with such lifestyle changes as diet and exercise. Patients are encouraged to deal with emotional and psychological issues that may have contributed to their condition. At Lourdes, we partner with our patients to help them reach a healthy weight goal.
