Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center Nurse Anesthesia Program

Founded in 1978, the Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center Nurse Anesthesia Program (OLLMC NAP) is one of the few hospital-based courses of its kind. OLLMC NAP is currently affiliated (through 2021) with Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions for conferment of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.

For currently enrolled students (through the Class of 2021): Students are registered nurses with a bachelor-of-science (BSN) degree and a minimum of two years critical care experience. During the 27-month program, each student will log a minimum of 600  cases and 2000  clock hours while completing intense graduate course work in physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, physics, and principles of anesthesia practice. In addition, students complete nine on-line master’s level courses including advanced physical assessment, ethics, research, and quality and safety in healthcare. Upon completion, the student earns an MSN from Drexel University with a specialty in nurse anesthesia, and is eligible to sit for the national certification exam.

Career Ladder

The Career Ladder is designed to encourage and assist nurses to further their professional development and to reward them for their commitment to professional growth and excellent patient care. It is also our belief that the achievements afforded through the Career Ladder instill a sense of pride and achieve in the work that nurses perform. The implementation and maintenance of this program also enhances the Lourdes Health System’s ability to recruit and retain professional nurses who, in turn, contribute to the achievement of quality patient outcomes.
