Lourdes Gastroenterologist a Panel Moderator at Inflammatory Bowel Disease Conference

connAndrew Conn, MD, FACG, gastroenterologist with Lourdes Medical Associates, will serve as a moderator for two panel discussions at the Fourth Annual Dr. Stephen Matarazzo Inflammatory Bowel Disease Conference, being held on Wednesday, November 16, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 2349 Marlton Pike West, Cherry Hill, NJ.

The regional conference will offer one symposium for health providers and another symposium for the general public, both held simultaneously during conference hours. Tickets for the event range from $20 to $100. Lunch is included with the cost of the ticket.

Topics covered for the general public symposium include IBD’s impact on nutrition, proactive health, social and emotional concerns, and pain medication. There is also a pediatric-focused IBD presentation. The event will conclude with a question-and-answer session.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) includes ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. IBD can cause bleeding, pain and weight loss. It affects more than 1.6 million Americans.

The exact cause of IBD is not known. As of today, there is no cure. Management of IBD often involves a multidisciplinary team of specialists, each involved with one specific aspect of a patient’s disease.

Dr. Conn highly encourages those impacted from IBD to attend the general public symposium, where patients and family members can find answers to questions and connect with a community who shares the same challenges.

The conference is sponsored by the Atlantic Gastro Education Foundation and is endorsed by the American College of Gastroenterology, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America — Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter.
