Lourdes Appoints New Orthopedic Surgeon

Herbst, KOur Lady of Lourdes Medical Center recently appointed Kristen Herbst, DO, as an orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Herbst specializes in sports medicine, shoulder reconstruction and arthroscopy.

Dr. Herbst comes to Lourdes from the Center for Orthopedics in West Orange, NJ, where she served as an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist.

Dr. Herbst completed her internship and residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, serving as chief resident. She completed her sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. She earned her medical degree from Touro University — California.

Dr. Herbst is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. She has presented her work at regional and national conferences and her research has been published in medical journals, such as the American Journal of Sports Medicine and Current Opinion in Orthopaedics.

A lifelong athlete and runner, Dr. Herbst has worked with high school and college athletic teams, as well as professional sporting organizations to provide medical coverage at events and tournaments. She treats a variety of athletes, from young and high-level competitors to weekend warriors, and works to get patients back to their pre-injury level of activity.
