Peace Pole Dedicated in Camden

_DSC2197In honor of the Feast of St. Francis, a peace pole  was dedicated today on the front lawn of Our  Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. Flanked by
Camden County police officers–who have  worked hard to bring peace to the city–Father  Joseph Monahan, TOR, director of Pastoral Care
at OLLMC, Sister Maureen Shaughnessy, SC,  vice president of Mission, and Lourdes President  and CEO Alexander J. Hatala, blessed the pole.

“May Peace Prevail on Earth” is written in eight languages: English, Hebrew, Spanish,  Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Algonquin and Swahili.  “We dedicate our peace pole on the Feast of St. Francis to remind us of our heritage  and our promise to be a transforming, healing presence in the communities we serve,”  said Father Joe.

Peace poles can be found in more than 200 countries. A peace pole was dedicated at  Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County several years ago.  “Our Lady of Lourdes‟ peace pole makes us part of a global community, of all faiths  and nationalities, working to make a better, more positive world,” said Sister Maureen.  “This peace pole represents our wish for the future, a future that sees us becoming a
more tolerant country, and a place where the ultimate  goal is working with other  countries for lasting peace throughout the world.”
