Message from the President
At the start of the year, were you among the millions of Americans who made resolutions to get healthier in 2009? If so, now that spring is here, it’s a good time to check your progress. Are you eating healthier? Have you lost any weight? Have you continued that exercise program? Have you quit smoking?
If you have a hard time answering “yes” to these questions, you may feel a bit discouraged. But you are not alone–most people have a hard time sticking to their New Year’s resolutions. The good news is you don’t have to wait until January to start living healthier. Every day you can choose to make small, incremental changes that can affect your health in positive ways.
This issue of HealthTalk is filled with informative articles on a range of topics, from coping with back pain to beating heart disease. In recent months, you may have become more concerned than ever about the cost of health care. Learn about some practical ways to reduce your family’s healthcare costs. And don’t forget to check out our spring Wellness programs and classes–many of which are free.
Even in tough times, you cannot take your health for granted. So forget all those January promises. Instead, resolve today to make each day better than the last one. At the Lourdes Health System, we are here to help.
