The Wound Healing Center

Located directly across from to Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, in Willingboro, New Jersey, the Wound Healing Center offers specialized care for chronic and non-healing wounds—treating about 3,000 patients per year. Its physicians, nurses and other staff members provide a high level of expertise, aimed at healing problem wounds. Most patients appreciate healing of such conditions within a few weeks of care at the center.

Full-Service Wound Care

The staff treats all kinds of skin lesions and breakdowns, including ulcer and pressure wounds. Using the latest technology and products to help heal external wounds and skin breakdowns, the center works to return health and function to compromised sites, and thus to patients. While doing so, the team also helps to address underlying diseases and conditions contributing to the wound process and to any recurrent wounds at specific locations. Atrophied or deficient circulation, blood vessels or nerves may contribute to chronic wounds, and the team assists patient and referring provider in steps for managing these factors.

The team establishes a partnership with the patient's doctor and with referring institutions. Serving as an outpatient clinic, the Wound Healing Center cares for independent and ambulatory patients as well as those transported for treatment from rehabilitation sites or long-term or skilled care facilities. The staff also works with patients in the hospital.

The center treats patient who have been to their family physician or emergency room and who need further treatment for difficult wounds resulting from injury or infection, including new or acute wounds.

Importantly, the center helps a segment of patients who require more intensive wound-healing intervention, by providing hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) through the Lourdes Center for Hyperbaric Medicine, located across the street, in the Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County. Candidates for HBOT are generally patients who have otherwise intractable or more difficult-to-heal wounds due to the nature of the wounds or related conditions or both, and patients who have more acute or urgent wound-healing needs due to the serious nature of the wounds or interaction of the wound with other conditions.

Highly Accomplished Staff
