Cardiac Rehabilitation
Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation
For patients who undergo cardiac surgery, coronary angioplasty, or who are
recovering from a heart attack, the inpatient cardiac rehabilitation program
is an important step in the recovery process. Patients are encouraged to
become as independent as possible to help rebuild strength and function.
Patients also learn about their heart condition and what they can expect to
experience once they return home. Family members are also educated about how
they can assist with the patient's recovery after discharge from the
hospital.
Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation
The Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center helps heart patients work toward their optimal level of health. Under the medical direction of a cardiologist, our highly qualified team—which includes Wellness Center staff, registered nurse educators—helps patients achieve a healthier lifestyle. During visits, patients undergo a series of carefully monitored exercises designed to restore full function with a minimum of discomfort or danger. Ongoing education regarding exercise, nutrition, and other cardiac risk factor modifications are important parts of the cardiac rehab program. The program is custom-tailored for each patient and paced according to his or her condition and capabilities. Family members can also benefit from the program and are encouraged to participate in the education classes. For more information about Cardiac Rehab at Lourdes, call Maryann Classick-Wallace at 856-757-3752.
