Emergency Care at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center
The Emergency Department at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center is well known
for its advances in the treatment of all pediatric and adult emergencies.
Located on the first floor of the hospital's new critical care pavilion, the
department maintains an outstanding team of emergency physicians, nurses and
technicians backed by some of the field's most sophisticated resuscitative
and monitoring equipment.
With over 15,000 square foot, with 30 treatment rooms and a dedicated prompt care section, the ED is designed for maximum efficiency. A novel, direct-to-bed approach for patient assessments assures that patients are seen in the shortest time possible by the most appropriate health care providers. Registration of patients occurs directly at the bedside and all records are electronically generated and archived.
Although designed for the rapid care of patients with minor problems, this ED truly excels in the resuscitation of critically ill patients. Using the latest in Emergency Medicine techniques, many of which were developed right here at Lourdes, the ED is prepared to immediately care for the most unstable of patients. In addition the ED has direct access to all the resources of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center to assist in the stabilization and admission of these patients.
The ED at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center is proud of its reputation as one of the most innovative departments in the care of both adult and childhood emergencies. Our staff is responsible for over 100 national and international journal publications, text book chapters and monographs as well as over 300 invited lectures and seminars. Both the physician and nursing staff are supported by a dedicated array of ancillary emergency and radiology technicians, respiratory therapists, and secretarial staff.
