Lourdes cares for patients who walk through its doors, but then it goes beyond—reaching
out to those most in need to serve them in their homes, in special programs and clinics, and
throughout the community.
Lourdes Health System's community outreach programs serve children, seniors, the homeless, and the medically underserved. The goal is to ensure that every patient, regardless of ability to pay, has access to services that provide for medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs.
- The Bridge: Teen Support and Enrichment Program
A unique resource for group sharing and positive lifestyle reinforcement for the adolescent population. - Child Development Program
No-cost care for babies and toddlers with delays or disabilities. - Community Health Practice
Free care from volunteer doctors and nurses for patients and families who can't pay. - Senior Dining Program
Discounts on already inexpensive meals at the Burlington medical center. - Senior Services
Volunteer home assistance; companionship and assistance in home for seniors by seniors; and senior mentorship of young people.
The American Hospital Association recognized Lourdes nationally for these efforts and accomplishments by awarding it the Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Hospital Community Service. The AHA bestows this distinction—one of the most prestigious national honors in the healthcare field—on an organization that demonstrates a commitment to providing its community with innovative programs and services that expand access to care.
