Lourdes Cardiologist Appointed to State Advisory Panel

A cardiologist at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center has been appointed to a state advisory group on cardiac health.
Jan Weber, M.D., Medical Director of the New Jersey Heart Institute at Lourdes, was appointed to a two-year term to the New Jersey Cardiovascular Health Advisory Panel by Fred M. Jacobs, M.D., J.D., Commissioner of the Department of Health and Senior Services.
The advisory panel was established in 2001 to provide the commissioner with expert clinical and technical advice in order to develop sound cardiovascular health policy in the state. The panel also develops cardiovascular health promotion and disease prevention activities; reviews cardiac service technological developments and recommends guidelines for integrating into the accepted standards of practice; advises on statewide cardiac research and data; and provides advice on patterns of practice and criteria for cardiac services.
Dr. Weber has been Chief of Cardiology at Lourdes since 1991. Under his leadership, Lourdes has grown into a regional provider of cardiac services. For the sixth consecutive year, The New Jersey Heart Institute at Lourdes is the largest provider of inpatient cardiac services in the entire Delaware Valley.
Dr. Weber received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He completed his internship and residency training at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he completed a cardiology fellowship at the Likoff Cardiovascular Institute. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology at Graduate Hospital and served as Director of the Cardiac Ultrasound Laboratory at the Philadelphia Heart Institute at Presbyterian Medical Center. In 2003, he received a master's degree in Health and Medical Administration from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Heart Association.
