Lourdes Gastroenterology Associates Expands with Addition of Theresa M. DiSandro, D.O.

Theresa M. DiSandro, DO recently joined the former one-physician office of Lourdes Gastroenterology Associates in Cherry Hill. The addition of Dr. DiSandro will help to meet the growing demand for GI services in the area.

Dr. DiSandro received her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, in addition to completing her residency in internal medicine, where she served as chief medical resident. She also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Hahnemann University Hospital through Drexel University College of Medicine.

During her fellowship, she studied nutrition and gastrostomy tube placement in ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) patients, which was published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology. After graduating from her fellowship, Dr. DiSandro went into private practice in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She also assisted in training the fellows at Hahnemann University Hospital in endoscopy.

Dr. DiSandro treats various gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), pancreaticobiliary diseases, liver disease, nutrition and functional GI disorders. In addition to standard endoscopy and colonoscopy, Dr. DiSandro also performs wireless capsule endoscopy.

Dr. DiSandro is a member of several medical societies and associations including the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the Montgomery County Medical Society, the American Osteopathic Association and the American Medical Association.
