Thursday, August 16, 2012
Lourdes Cardiology Services, a leading cardiac care provider for the Delaware Valley, recently announced the opening of its third heart failure center location in Sewell, New Jersey.
Located in the heart of Washington Township, the new center provides convenient access for heart failure patients across areas of Gloucester, Camden and Salem Counties.
With additional locations in Cherry Hill and Woodbury, Lourdes Cardiology Heart Failure Centers are home to the longest-running and most established heart failure program in southern New Jersey, having served more than 1,000 patients, reducing hospital admissions by 50 percent and greatly improving their quality of life.
"For many people suffering from CHF, a patient-centered program is highly instrumental in helping improve their quality of life," said Joshua M. Crasner, DO, FACC, FACOI, medical director of the heart failure program at the Sewell center and a cardiologist at South Jersey Heart Group, an affiliate of Lourdes Cardiology Services. "We are pleased to expand this highly regarded program to reach more heart failure patients in South Jersey and to help those individuals get their life back on track."
Like the other centers, the Sewell location offers the most comprehensive treatment of advanced heart failure and other cardiac-related services in the area through a proven education and treatment program designed to help patients manage their disease.
The center provides technologically advanced diagnostic tests and treatments specially designed to help patients with heart failure, with capabilities including:
- Noninvasive thoracic impedance measurements
- Intravenous diuretic therapy
- Cardiac device information retrieval
- Participation in clinical research trials
- Shared care of patients requiring left ventricular assist devices
- Cardiac resynchronization therapy
Under the medical direction of board-certified physicians, advanced practice nurses and registered nurses, the Lourdes heart failure team provides personalized treatment to improve symptoms, activity levels and overall quality of life for their patients.
By teaching patients how to establish and maintain lifestyle behaviors and by regularly tracking the progress of patients through routine visits, established protocols and follow-up telephone calls, the majority of Lourdes heart failure patients experience significant improvements in their condition.
Heart failure currently affects more than 5 million Americans and about 500,000 new patients are diagnosed each year. It is the leading cause of hospital admissions for people 65 and older and the leading cause of death among New Jerseyans.
Patients in heart failure can enjoy better health and an improved quality of life by taking care of themselves and working with a medical team specially trained in heart failure.
The Lourdes Cardiology Heart Failure Center in Sewell is located adjacent to Kennedy Hospital in Suite 6 of the Washington Medical Arts Building at 539 Egg Harbor Road. For more information about the Sewell heart failure center, call (856) 589-2477.
