WHAT: Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center will host a visit by 16 of the nation's highest-achieving high school students from the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. Nominated by their guidance counselors for their academic merit, leadership potential and strong interest in the field of medicine, the incoming juniors and seniors will tour various departments within the medical center and hear lunchtime presentations by Lisa Shultz, M.D., chief of neurology; and Bruce McGann, M.D., hospitalist, who will talk about their careers.

WHEN: Thursday, July 9, 2009

9:15 a.m. – Students will arrive at the hospital lobby and begin a guided tour of the Chapel, laboratory, morgue, radiology units, rehabilitation department, operating room, cardiac catheterization lab and medical library.

12 Noon – lunch and presentations by physicians

1:15 p.m. – Tour scheduled to conclude.

WHERE: Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, 1600 Haddon Avenue, Camden

The National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine is a 10-day program offering an intense and stimulating exploration of the field of medicine to select high school students from all over the country.

Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center is a 410-bed teaching hospital, dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of southern New Jersey residents and particularly devoted to caring for those most in need. Sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, N.Y., the medical center is part of Lourdes Health System, which is a member of the Catholic Health East, a multi-institutional, Catholic health system co-sponsored by 13 religious congregations.
