Wireless Internet Now Available to Patients and Visitors at Lourdes Health System Hospitals
Tuesday, March 27, 2007
Because so many people depend on their computers to communicate and
conduct day-to-day business, the Lourdes Health System now offers
complimentary wireless Internet access to our patients, families and
visitors at both Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County,
Willingboro, and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Camden.
"We have received many requests over the past couple of years from patients requesting wireless Internet access," said Alexander J. Hatala, President and CEO of the Lourdes Health System. "We expect this to be a popular service and a good way to enhance the overall patient experience."
Most laptops will pick up the wireless connection from most spots at both Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County as soon as you turn on your computer. Instructions and a frequently asked questions guide are available to all patients and visitors.
Many of Lourdes patients, especially those who are in the hospital for an extended length of time, request Internet access to keep up with personal business, stay in touch with families via e-mail and maintain a sense of normalcy. "Anything we can do to help patients pass the time, feel less isolated and more connected, enhances their sense of well-being and cannot help but positively affect their outcome," said Hatala.
The new networks have the highest security standards and are separate from the hospital network. In no way will guest users be able to access the hospital data network, hospital information systems or confidential patient information.
