Funding for Expanded Homeless Outreach
For many years, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center has been at the forefront of addressing the needs of the homeless in Camden County. Thanks to a grant of almost $300,000 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Lourdes will be able to expand those services.
The funds will allow Project H.O.P.E., the medical center's homeless outreach program, to develop an innovative treatment program to provide care in a single setting for homeless individuals suffering from both mental health issues and addiction. "Because of their situation, people who are homeless often have trouble making follow-up appointments or referrals for additional care," explained Pat DeShields, Director of Project H.O.P.E. "By caring for all issues at one time, we believe we will see more successful outcomes and help people on their way to recovery."
