Founded in 1961 by 11 physicians looking to serve the growing Willingboro
area, Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County today is a 249-bed
community hospital that provides technologically advanced diagnostic and
treatment options close to home.
Specialty services include the Lourdes Cancer Center, Lourdes Specialty Hospital of Southern New Jersey, a unit for long-term acute-care patients; cardiology services, including a hyberbaric chamber for the treatment of chronic wounds and behavioral health services.
Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County has benefited from more than $40 million in capital improvements since 1999. In 2001, the hospital opened a long-awaited $20 million same-day surgery center, with new operating suites, recovery areas and a new critical care unit.
Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County is part of the Lourdes Health System, and is sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, N.Y. Lourdes is a member of Catholic Health East, a health system with 31 hospitals on the East Coast.
